Alright, so we took the plunge. Given the size of my raise, and a sale that Dell is running until this Wednesday, we moved up our time frame of getting a new PC.
With mega-help from David, we decided on a Dell instead of the MAC. There were two options for both. The low end option from MAC was the same price as the high end option from Dell. Plus, we get a 20 inch flat screen monitor (yes, that says 20 inch monitor) and extras like a CDRW/DVD Rom. I also added a couple of upgrades per David’s suggestions that bumped the price up a total of $100. I had wanted to get a new printer too, seeing as the low end Dell option had a great Inkjet photo printer for only $39! But that printer was not a choice with the high end option (they only had laser jet printers starting at $149), so we will be keeping what we have and saving for a new one. Plus we need to find some speakers later, too.
All in all, it was the best option given what was “included with the price.” We are paying $699 for the PC, which is still $100 cheaper then the high end MAC. Plus this is the sale price. The regular price for this PC is $1339.
I am still frustrated at the fact that we are buying another new PC only a year after buying one. But we have never gotten any reliability out of it. And when we do online banking/checking, and have other things that we need on it (like Marcia’s resumé, which the high school she was directing that musical for wants to see for other jobs) we just can’t fool around anymore. I also think David is sick and tired of me asking him to come over to fix our PC every other week. We would like to invite him (and Catherine and Lyric) over for dinner just because we like his company!
Maybe to take out some of my frustration, I can smash up our old PC with a hockey stick, then box it up and send it to TigerDirect with a little love note?
