So as I mentioned before, Marcia and I decided to try this. We eventually signed up with SunRocket.Com, seeing as their cost works out to $16.58 a month, while we were paying $80.57 with Verizon for the same features (call waiting, caller ID, voice mail, unlimited local, toll, and long distance, etc.). Comcast was the one that alerted us to this technology, but they are charging $33.95 a month.

I had a problem hooking it up because I didn’t quite understand what was going on. But it was just a matter of starting over and everything came together. I did have to reboot Marcia’s MAC laptop though to get the internet connection back. So I made a couple of phone calls and the quality...

We had our first real Barbeque of the season. Marcia, Nigel, and I invited David and Catherine over for dinner last night. We had burgers and chicken, both prepared by David. Had a problem with the fire though. I forgot to open up the bottom vent, so the fire nearly extinguished. It did help me in not burning the outside of the burgers. However, a few of them were still rather rare in the middle. We popped those into the microwave for a couple of minutes. But they were very good.

Also tried something new yesterday. A single malt Scotch. I have a few bottles of Scotch, and most of them are unopened and blends. I tried one of them about 8 years ago and didn’t like it. But one of the bottles was this single malt that...

How would you like to order a book from Amazon, and be sent via UPS, and have the actual author of the book hand deliver it to you? Well, a young lady in the Detroit area got exactly that when she ordered a paperback edition of Mitch Albom’s “The Five People You Meet in Heaven”. And Amazon has a little video of the event. You can watch it on the actual PAGE of the book from their site. You’ll have to scroll down a bit.

Other then Michael Swanwick, I don’t know of any authors that I have read that lives somewhat close or in the general area. Maybe Amazon and...

Those Darn Devils!
The New Jersey Devils proved once again that they are the sneakiest team in the NHL. All season they have been entrenched in third place in the Atlantic Division. With a bad start to the season, the Devils, one of the NHL’s best run teams the last 15 years, appeared to be headed for a big struggle just to make the playoffs. At one point, it even appeared that the Flyers couldn’t catch the Rangers for the division title. Yet last night, the Devils moved into first place for the first time all season. Unfortunately, it was the last day of the season.

Down 3-0 to the Canadiens late in the second period, the Devils started their comeback, scoring four unanswered goals, the last...

Over the months I have had a few new beers, just haven’t gotten around to posting about them. So here is the rundown:

Stegmaier Porter
One of the local beer stores (reminder, in PA you can only buy beer at a beer store) they were carrying these samplers of Stegmaier’s from the Lion Brewery in Wilkes-Barre. The cool thing about it was it came in a nice wooden case, with the logo painted in red with black drop shadow, looking very 1920’s-1930’s. I figured it was worth the money for the wooden case alone. But the porter also made it worth the purchase. It was very smooth and a little smokey.

Stegmaier Pale Ale...

Another win for my team. Three straight now. Not a bad way to start the season.

The game was kind of close, and what helped my opponent was his “emergency” players. We start eight players, and if for some reason one of them doesn’t play, those doing the scoring will take the first substitute in line (we have to tell them the order). Brendon Lade of the Port Adelaide Power came up with 115 points in his emergency roll. The final score was 826 to 776. Six of my eight players scored over 100 points, with Cameron Bruce...

I had POSTED a couple of weeks ago about an elderly neighbor of ours that had tripped while walking, and that I called 911 for him. I found out today that he died three days later in the hospital from the injuries.

He had fallen face first, and from what the EMT’s were saying at the time we called them, that he had severe head trauma. It is amazing to think about that, because when a co-worker of mine (who happens to live in the same complex) and I were calling 911, the man and his wife kept asking us to help him up so she could get him back to the apartment.

Marcia and I had seen people that looked like they could be his relatives walking outside...

Easter Weekend
Had a pretty nice time during our long weekend. Though Friday and Saturday night were tough. Nigel wasn’t getting his naps during the day, or enough of them, therefore he was overtired. Still don’t understand why when an infant or toddler is very tired they just don’t lay down and go to sleep.

Anyway, hope everyone had a nice Easter weekend.

More About Nigel
It appears that Nigel has found a food that might not agree with him. He has been having a good time with applesauce and sweet potatoes, along with the rice cereal and formula. I think Marcia has also been giving him carrots. But recently she gave him peaches, and it appeared that his system...

A little early, but Marcia, Nigel, Molson, and I are heading over to my mother-in-law’s for the rest of the weekend. She has a very slow and old laptop that takes almost an hour just to check email. So I doubt I will be posting. We plan on visiting other relatives and such, and of course have church and dinner on Sunday.

Have a Happy Easter.

God Bless!

Yesterday evening I finished “Hockey Sur Glace” by Peter LaSalle, a short story and poem collection. All of them, obviously, with a hockey theme. And for the record, it was a short book (like the last one), just in case you were wondering how I finished two books so quickly.

This book immediately caught my eye, being a hockey fan. And a moment later I realized that it could also be very bad. After all, a collection of hockey stories? But as I read the description it specifically said that it wasn’t hockey stories. It was stories that hockey has something to do with. One of the best stories in the book (”Wellesley...
