Didn’t get to see the game, but they beat Finland 4-0.

The team celebrates after their victory.
A disappointing finish for the team. They were expected to challenge Canada for the gold. This is also another slip backwards from wining gold in 1998 and silver in 2002. Still a good showing. Hopefully this speaks of the advancement of the other nation’s programs and not a backslide of the US program. After all, the better other teams get, the more exciting and more competitive future tournaments will be.

I posted the following picture last week after we got over a foot of snow. It was said we got 15 inches.

Now exactly one week later, and having three days over 50 degrees, one day in the 60’s, and rain, you would be hard pressed to think we had over a foot of snow on the ground last week.

Here is our little guy, and more smiles (though he is still crying his head off at times).

Whoa Nelly, it’s one doozy of a tourney!!
Russia beats Kazakhstan 1-0. For a team that beat Sweden 5-0, that’s bad.
Finland beats the Czech Republic! (Though not a huge upset.)
Slovakia beat the US!
Switzerland beats Canada!! No typos there, or dyslexia on my part. The Swiss BEAT Canada! And not only that …… they SHUT THEM OUT!! The Swiss won 2-0. It probably helps that the two NHL players on the Swiss squad are their goalies. David Aebischer and Martin Gerber.
Slovakia and Finland are now the only two undefeated teams left. Not that it is too terribly surprising to see them undefeated three games into a five game round robin. But Slovakia and Finland are...

Continuing the upsets in Torino.

Maria Rooth of team Sweden celebrates after scoring her shoot-out goal that beat the US.
Yikes! Didn’t expect this. The US Women’s team lost to Sweden today in the semi-finals. This puts them in the bronze medal game. They obviously expected to play in the gold medal game against Canada. (Canada plays Finland in the other semi later this afternoon.) You can read the RECAP from Yahoo’s coverage.
I didn’t see...

The Olympic hockey tournament is getting very interesting. After the US tied with Latvia, and Slovakia upset Russia, we had Russia beating up on Sweden (5-0, wow!) and Switzerland upsetting the Czech Republic. Switzerland?! It is going to make the next three rounds very interesting.
With Russia beating Sweden, it gave the US a reprieve. Both Russia and Sweden now have a loss, while the US can brag that they are undefeated of a sort. Of course they are still behind the surprising Slovaks who are the only team in the group with two wins.
In the other group, Canada is no surprise at the top with two wins, and have Finland as mates. The Czech Republic could turn things around, but without Hasek (who was injured in the first...

Opened Up My Big Mouth
I am thinking that Marcia and I are jinxing ourselves with Nigel. Every time I post that he is doing better, or Marcia tells someone he is doing better, then he has a couple of bad days. Yesterday was one of them.
We had to go pick up some music for Marcia at a school in Bryn Mawr. She is the musical director for their productions. The person that was supposed to bring the music was late, and the whole time, other then the last 5 minutes, Nigel was cranky and crying. Even while we were trying to feed him there.
Then when we got home, we fed him again, with rice cereal, and yet he still was cranky. He finally fell asleep in my arms, and sure enough, as soon as I laid him in...

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!
Marcia and I aren’t doing anything fancy this year. With the munchkin man and money a little tight, we will hope for a nice, quiet night at home. Though we did get each other a gift (thanks to our great tax return).
I got Marcia “That 70’s Show” Season Three on DVD.

Marcia got me “The Thousandfold...

At some point last week (can’t remember when), Marcia and I finished watching the first season of “That 70’s Show”. Though we have been watching it a lot through syndication on two different channels, Marcia got this set on DVD from my parents for her birthday.

Here is a little rundown on what the show is about, for those that don’t know. The show’s central character is Eric Forman. At the start of the series, he is 16 or 17 years old, living in (fictional) Point Place, Wisconsin (suburb of Green Bay) with his parents Red and Kitty, and it’s late 1976. He has a older sister named Laurie who shows up...
