OK, so maybe it wasn’t that big.
So what made it so eventful? Well, first, we opened up a savings account at our bank on Friday evening for Nigel. That was partly due to Nigel getting checks made out to him for his Christening and for just being born. So this way he has an account, although he can’t touch it until he’s 18, and I am the custodian on it so I can sign checks.
Then this afternoon, Marcia and I finally opened his college fund. Unfortunately we are not putting all the money he was given as gifts into it. With some of the expenditures for clothes and such, and considering the formula we were told to use because of his skin rash and colic is the most expensive on the market, things have been tighter then we expected. But even still, Nigel is starting off with a good chunk of change. Plus we set it up to take out a set amount from our checking account every month.
The other big event was Nigel’s first trip to the mall. Our 20 minute trip to Babies ‘R Us a few weeks ago wasn’t much of an outing. But today we spent a little over an hour at the mall, then made a quick stop at a couple of other places. The biggest reason for our outing was to get out and walk around. Plus we wanted to break in Nigel’s stroller. But Marcia and I both had some gift certificates that we needed to use. Some from even as far back as Christmas 2004. Nigel didn’t seemed to be bothered by the crowds or the frequent bumps into racks and fixtures while Marcia and I learned just how much room we needed to maneuver the stroller. He slept through most of the outing.
Such is the life of a two month old.
