“Summer Make Good” - Múm Merry Christmas
Dec 23

My brother Brian made a wise comment on a post of mine where I said that it seemed Nigel had enough clothes to get him through until he grew into larger sizes. Brian’s comment was that I don’t realize just how often you may change a baby’s clothes for whatever reason. I learned this first hand two nights ago when Nigel went through four sleepers in about 20 minutes. He kept spitting up before we could get a bib on him. Though one of those times a bib wouldn’t have helped much. I had to change my shirt and pants too on that one.

Marcia and I are now learning to let Nigel cry when we put him down to sleep. He has to learn too that it’s time for bed and we can’t always hold him. Quite honestly it has been somewhat easy. He doesn’t cry very long (maybe a minute at the longest). Part of this has happened though from me being really frustrated. Marcia will go to bed early during the week to cover the “night shift”, but by 10:30-11:00 I am ready to fall asleep, too. The last two nights Nigel has been crying AFTER feeding and AFTER changing (right around 11:00 or so). And I know it’s not because he didn’t get enough to eat since both nights he put away more then he ever has. So I gave into to my impatience and decided that it was time for him to cry himself to sleep. As I said, both times he quickly fell asleep. Something that possibly helped him was a plush lamb that my parents got for us that plays sounds to soothe a baby to sleep. The “ocean waves” setting seems to help Nigel. (It helps me, too.)
