Snow Day “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” by C. S. Lewis
Dec 10

We had our annual Secret Santa gift exchange last night at Pizza Night. (I read David’s POST, which reminded me.) John was my Secret Santa. My list included five different jazz CD’s to choose from (we have a $20 limit). And boy am I spoiled by Amazon.Com, because he had a heck of a time finding any of them. (He doesn’t use the online retailer.) But eventually he came across Herbie Hancock’s “Thrust”. The sad part is that I didn’t even realize that I already had that CD. Maybe that’s the problem with having as many as I do. Anyway, as an added bonus (maybe because the CD was cheap) he got me a bottle of wine. It was Woodbridge’s California Zinfandel.

And we also had another “white elephant” outing, where you wrap up something from around the house that you don’t want anymore, then we all take turns picking from the pile of packages or stealing something that someone else already unwrapped. The package I picked, since there wasn’t anything at the time worth stealing, was some stationary. Joie happened to get a book called “The Traditions of Christmas” edited by Nancy J. Skarmeas. Since neither of us liked what we had, but liked what the each other had, we traded.

This Pizza Night also marked Nigel’s first. He didn’t seem to mind the drive or all the hub-bub at all. We usually get rather noisy. So far though he doesn’t seem to be disturbed by loud noises, even when sleeping. It was rather crazy trying to remember everything that we needed to bring along for him. So much that I forgot to bring the gifts that Marcia and I were to give out as Secret Santas. I guess that is a common problem among first-time parents.
