Nigel was doing pretty good, but his blood sugar numbers were wacky. It comes from that fact that Marcia was gestational diabetic for the last four week of her pregnancy. So after a few hours in the regular nursery, he was sent to the NICU (Neonatal/Newborn Intensive Care Unit). Nothing serious, but they could monitor it better there. His numbers have been steadily going up, which means they have been weening him off the IV, so a scheduled departure of tomorrow afternoon looks good.
Marcia is doing much better, too. She was feeling a lot of discomfort last night when I returned. It was the epidural wearing off. But today things have been going much better.
So baby and mommy are doing good.

See what happens? I go away for four days, and you become a father. Neat-o. Glad everyone’s okay, or at least seems to be. Now go get yourself some rest.

Thanks Karen. Yes it is wonderful.
Thanks Brian. Yes, I need some rest. Though not as much as Marcia. Though I am looking forward to sitting Nigel in front of the TV and watching some Aussie rules or rugby with him.
(Of course, right after we watch either the Wings or Flyers, or both.)
