Nov 23

Yesterday afternoon Marcia was getting some signs that Nigel may have been coming into the world. She was having contractions, but they were 20 minutes apart. After I came home early from work, they were about 7 minutes apart. Then they stopped. She was on the phone back and forth with her doctor’s office, and after they started up again, he informed her to go to the hospital.

On the way there she was getting contractions again, and they were 5 minutes apart. We were beginning to really think that this was it. The only thing was that the contractions weren’t that painful. Marcia wasn’t sure if it was because of suffering migraines that the pain just wasn’t intense to her, or if they were just weak. As it turned out, after being hooked up to the monitor in the hospital, that the contractions were in fact rather weak. And they stopped again. Since she was only dilated one centimeter, the doctor informed the staff to send her home. So we have taken up residence for the very long (now) holiday weekend at her Mom’s place, which is about a 15 to 20 minute drive to the hospital, compared to the one hour trip it usually takes from our place.

As always, those that have a strong desire to know will be phoned when things start up again.

Man, I knew I should’ve picked a week earlier than I did. So much for trying to be different. Hopefully everything will go well, though, and you’ll have your new addition by the time you’re all done your turkey. Is the hospital in Philly?

  2. Scott Says:

The hospital is in Bethlehem. It’s the same hospital that Marcia was born at. It is really quick to get there from Mom’s place. And the only reason it takes as long as it does is because of traffic and lights.

Oh God, it’s getting nearer then!
