Yankees Are Done!
The Angels knocked the Yankess out of the playoffs last night. I believe the best way to describe this is ……
“Yankees lose. Theeeeeeeeee Yankees lose!”
The famous call of John Sterling, voice of the Yankees. (OK, so it’s only when they win, but heck, you know me.)
Wade Is Done!
The Philadelphia Phillies fired general manager Ed Wade yesterday. I believe the best way to describe this is ……
“It’s about freakin’ time you idiots!”
He has made some bone head moves, or didn’t make moves that he should have. The only bright spot he had was signing Jim Thome, who then hit over 40 homers in his first two years. But now Thome is about as worthless as Bill Buckner, and the Rookie of the Year candidate who replaced Thome this year, Ryan Howard, was reportedly going to be traded by Wade.
Hopefully manager Charlie Manuel is next to go. Sure he didn’t do too bad in his first year. But he was a terrible National League manager, even admitting to forgetting that he had to hit his pitcher and not knowing the benefits of double switches. Eek!
Red Wings Undefeated Season Is Done!
The Vancouver Canucks beat the Red Wings last night 4-2, ending the Wings bid for an undefeated season. I believe the best way to describe this is ……
“Well, duh! Even the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens lost 8 games.”
OK, so I wanted to keep with the theme. Sue me.
From what I saw the Wings were lacking a bit. Probably since they played the night before. Though credit the Canucks. They are probably the best team in the West.
Another View of Shoot-Outs
I was watching ESPN’s “The Sports Reporters” this past Sunday, and host John Saunders made an interesting point about the criticism of the NHL shoot-out rule.
For those that say it’s like deciding a baseball game with a home run derby, he said yes. But explained, imagine that David Ortiz has to face Randy Johnson, and he only gets one pitch to hit. It’s not the same as the fluff job at the All-Star Game, which is essentially batting practice.
Good point John. Lends more respectability to it. I still don’t like it though.

Thank you for not bringing up the U of M vs Big 10 2005 Champs(?) game this weekend. Wait till next year, well maybe we’ll wait till Saturday for that. Go Blue!

I can’t say much against U-M this year, as much as I would like to. They beat State, so I gotta keep quiet.
