For the first time in a long time, Michigan came into this game as the underdog and not ranked nationally. But it’s a rivalry. Those kind of things don’t mean much.
MSU looked rather bad at the start of the game. They let U-M score twice in the first 8 minutes. They finally started turning things around, but U-M’s secondary was just too good. I don’t know how many times Drew Stanton, the MSU quarterback, was standing around in the pocket (at least with good protection) looking for an open receiver.
Two plays rather did MSU in. They threw an interception late in the first quarter, trying to tie the game up at 14. Then they got called for roughing the kicker on an attempted field goal. It gave U-M a first down, and they capitalized with a touchdown.

A too familiar sight of Mike Hart, U-M running back, who rushed for 220 yards.
Fortunately near the end, MSU got to breaks to send it to OT. First there was a U-M fumble deep in MSU’s territory, which was picked up by Domata Peko. He ran it back almost 90 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 31 a piece. Then U-M drove down the field again, but missed a field goal with just over a minute left.
Thanks to ABC I didn’t get to see the winning field goal. I am thankful for that, but still a little miffed. But since they wanted to broadcast the Penn St. game around here, how can I really complain about that.

Unfortunately this may mean we will never get rid of Lloyd.

Well there is still hope that they will lose to Ohio St. Of course I will be rooting for U-M that day.
(Always a good day when Notre Dame and/or Ohio St.lose.)
