A group of 11 of us headed out to the Fuji Japanese steak house for dinner tonight. It was a good time, as expected. It was better then our experience at Kyoto’s in Williamsburg, where it was 92 degrees outside with very high humidity, but felt cooler then being in the building. Just being cooler wasn’t the only thing that made it better. There was only two tables in a room, so it made it more intimate. Plus the food was better. It was BYOB. David found a six pack of Red Hook Nut Brown Ale, and for only $6!
We had desert at the restaurant, and it was alright. Marcia and I each had the fried ice cream. Similar to that at Chi-Chi’s. But the ice cream...

For the first time in a long time, Michigan came into this game as the underdog and not ranked nationally. But it’s a rivalry. Those kind of things don’t mean much.
MSU looked rather bad at the start of the game. They let U-M score twice in the first 8 minutes. They finally started turning things around, but U-M’s secondary was just too good. I don’t know how many times Drew Stanton, the MSU quarterback, was standing around in the pocket (at least with good protection) looking for an open receiver.
Two plays rather did MSU in. They threw an interception late in the first quarter, trying to tie the game up at 14. Then they got called for roughing the kicker on an attempted field goal. It gave U-M...

Rumors floating around the league are calling for one of the most idiotic things I have ever heard of. Check out this ARTICLE at TSN. It says that they want NHL goalies to wear a different sweater then the other players, like soccer.
WHAT?!
The article says the idea is to keep the jersey sizes more streamlined, so we don’t have anymore instances like Patrick Roy and his very baggy dress sweaters. And that is all well and good, and I can understand the idea behind. As long as it allows enough room for the goalie to move. But WHY do they need to be different from the other players?!
Please, tell me this isn’t happening.

For the first time in what seemed like a while, we got together for Pizza Night yesterday. Andy and Yvonne hosted this week’s addition. We celebrated Catherine’s birthday (which was Sept. 29th) and Yvonne’s (Oct. 2nd). Andy’s colleagues Kevin (also a teacher) was there, and it was interesting to discuss the “no child left behind” ideals put forth by the government.
The Beer and Book Club was also mentioned. It looks like it’s a go! Shannon helped David and I recruit participants because she is very interested in discussing the first book we are going to read (she read it this past summer). So a couple of people that I didn’t expect might be joining us. Although they are not beer...
