I just watched the video supplied by the league to the teams about the new enforcement on obstruction penalties. HOLY CRIPE!! Once the players get used to these rules (if ever) the game with change drastically. Quite possibly rendering some players’ careers finished.

Essentially it comes down to, if it isn’t a check on the player with the puck, it’s a penalty. Otherwise, don’t touch anyone.

You can check out the video at this LINK on the NHL’s web site.

I was just told of a new phenomenon in music called mash-up. It is when someone takes two songs and puts them together, including beats, rhythms, etc. So here is a post mash-up including the two previous posts; Celtic dancing and the Sydney Swans winning the AFL premiership.

This is Swans’ player Tadhg Kennelly (yes, the first name is spelled correctly) doing a dance on the podium after receiving his medal.

The Sydney Swans beat the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League Grand Final earlier this morning. The Swans scored 8 goals and 10 behinds for a total of 58, while the Eagles scored 7 goals and 12 behinds for a total of 54.

The Swans celebrate after the trophy presentation.

It was the first Premiership for the Swans in 72 years! They might be considered the Red Sox of the AFL. And it was only their fourth in team history. Quite amazing since they were one of the original teams that formed the league in 1897 (though they moved from South Melbourne).

As for West Coast, one of two teams that could be...

Marcia and I, along with David and Catherine, went to the Celtic Fest in Bethlehem last night. It seems to be a yearly trip for us. And this year we mainly went to watch Ed and Shannon’s daughter Chloe dance.

Chloe has been dancing now for a couple of years, and winning many trophies along the way. The school of dance that she goes to was having a big performance at a local theater. This was the first time that Marcia and I had seen her perform. The only problem we had was that the dancers were dancing very close to the people in the first row and we really couldn’t see their footwork.

After we headed over to the big tents...

This is what I have been listening to this week at work and on the road.

Just a reminder for anyone that wants to get into the fun. Marcia and I are coming up with a prize for the winner.

You ask, “How do I enter?” Go to ExpectNet.Com. (This is the same place Angie and Todd set up the pool for Jordan’s birth.) From the front page, there will be a box at the top of the left purple menu bar saying that you can go to an already listed game. In the box enter NigelRowan exactly like that. It is case sensitive, and they don’t allow spaces. After that, in the middle near the right, there will be a pink/peach box that says “Enter a Guess.” Click that and enter the information.

Only ONE...

Last night David and I went to the Iron Hill Brewery in North Wales. Part of the draw was for me to join their Mug Club (David had already joined). Membership entitles you to cheaper beer (price that is, not quality), and when your membership expires after a year, you get to keep one of the mugs.

This was the second Iron Hill that I have been to. The other was in Wilmington, Delaware. If I remember correctly, each location (there are six) brews six specific beers that are the “house” beers. Then after that it is up to the individual brewmaster. I tried two different beers last night. The first was the “house” Raspberry Wheat, which was good, but I got bored...

Almost forgot. Today’s the first day of fall!!

Sorry to all you fans of summer, but I am glad. I just can’t take too much of the heat and humidity of summer. And it is not like I am in a big hurry to get to winter. I wish it could be fall weather all year round, with the occasional day in the high 70’s / low 80’s.

There is a really cool ARTICLE on ESPN’s web site. It was written by Scott Burnside who is based out of Atlanta, but is a huge hockey fan and writes mostly about hockey.

The article points out that in the face of some major retirements this year (Messier, Stevens, Damphousse, Francis, MacInnis, etc.) Stevie-Y decided to come back. Why? Because unlike most of those guys listed here, he still plays a big role on his team, and still has much to offer his team.

Not ready to hang from the rafters of The Joe just yet.

With another trip to the Blue Dog Pub last week, I picked up two more beers that I wanted to try. They have a huge cooler, and about a quarter of it is dedicated to brews that you can buy just a single bottle.

Petrus Old Brown Ale
It says on the label, which is why I bought it, that the beer is aged for two years in oak casks. And you can taste it. It has a combination taste to me, like brown ale and a fruity lambic. This was actually the second time I bought a bottle of this, and will be buying more in the future.

Chapeau Kriek
From what I understand,...
