The Beer and Book Club
Thanks to my sister Jenn’s idea, and David and I modifying it a little, I am trying to gather some folks to make this a reality. It is for those of us that like trying different beers and also like to read. Each month we would pick a book to read, and at the end of the month get together at someone’s house. We discuss the book, but also the host would provide a new and/or different beer for us to drink.

And my apologies to Jenn, for not being able to take part. After all, 10 hours is a long way to drive for a book club. (Maybe I can send you a beer though.)

House, MD
Another great episode of “House, MD” last night. The show always seems to tackle issues, whether in society or with the characters. It always keeps it interesting. It will be off the air for the next month though for the baseball playoffs (it’s on Fox).

There was another show that had it’s debut last night, but unfortunately was at the same time. That is “Commander in Chief” starring Geena Davis as the President of the United States. And before any of your smart-asses comment, no she is not playing George W. Bush. She is playing a character who becomes the President. Thanks to David and Catherine for taping it for us. I still need to get the splitter for the bedroom cable.

More Reading Time?
My employer announced today that it will be strictly enforcing company policy to take a 30 minute lunch. They have been very lax about it since I have been here. And I have gotten into the habit of working while I eat.

Now, this doesn’t really bother me. Sure, I need to get in a half hour earlier or leave a half hour later if I want to maintain my amount of hours per week. But rules are rules. What this might allow though is for more reading time. I am going to try and bring in some lighter reading and keep the book at my desk. First up will be something by Terry Pratchett.

One Week To Go!!
The NHL makes it’s illustrious return next Wednesday. Even though I am still a little bitter over the whole lock-out issue, I am geeked about it’s return. (Just as long as very few games go to shoot-out.)

Just thought I would mention it. : )

Just think Hockey followed by reruns of Survivor on OLN. What a combo.

  3. Scott Says:

Thanks for the idea David, but $198 to record one show a week isn’t my idea of a bargain. I will just stick with the $7 (estimate) cable splitter and the old VCR in the bedroom. ;)

You know Todd, I betcha reruns of Survivor would get better ratings then the NHL games, too.

  4. David Says:

AHH - but the TIVO is $49 after rebates.

  5. Scott Says:

HOLY SHNIKEY!! I didn’t catch that. Actually, that might be a good idea after all.

If you don’t own TiVO, I can’t express in words what you’re missing out on.
