Two More Beers Autumnal Equinox

There is a really cool ARTICLE on ESPN’s web site. It was written by Scott Burnside who is based out of Atlanta, but is a huge hockey fan and writes mostly about hockey.

The article points out that in the face of some major retirements this year (Messier, Stevens, Damphousse, Francis, MacInnis, etc.) Stevie-Y decided to come back. Why? Because unlike most of those guys listed here, he still plays a big role on his team, and still has much to offer his team.

Not ready to hang from the rafters of The Joe just yet.

Stevie said that he didn’t want to be welcomed back to the team just because of his past glory. And Ken Holland (GM) and Jimmy Devellano (VP) assured him that that wasn’t the case. They saw him as an integral part and still the team leader. It was also great to see, though not surprisingly coming from Stevie, that both sides saw him in the same role this year; centering the checking line and playing only 12-15 minutes.

For all you Wings fans, go check the article out.

NONE BETTER. HE IS “THE CAPTAIN”

Captain My Captain. If only more pro athletes could have the character and integrity Stevie has. He didn’t sit out to get the big pay day. He EARNED IT! If kids view sports athletes as role models hopefully they are like Stevie. Role models for who they are and not what they do on the field, court or ice.
