I know it has been a rumor for a while, but now it seems to be really happening. According to Michael Rosenberg’s ARTICLE on the Detroit Free Press web site, Pavel Datsyuk is ready to re-sign with the Wings. And if his numbers are to be believed, it’s a two year deal for $7.6 million. Less then what he was asking, but still a hefty raise.

As Rosenberg states, Pavel should be the top offensive threat on the team. And if the crackdown on obstruction penalties truly rids us of the trap, then Datsyuk should flurish. Here’s to hoping that he does, and carries it into the playoffs as well.

I am sure he will be a big part of the Red Wings march into the playoffs. The question is will he show up for the playoffs. 37 games played only 12 points. 3 goals and 9 assists. Also -1 and a mere 6.2 shooting percentage. Almost 18 percent in the regular season.
