With another trip to the Blue Dog Pub last week, I picked up two more beers that I wanted to try. They have a huge cooler, and about a quarter of it is dedicated to brews that you can buy just a single bottle.

Petrus Old Brown Ale
It says on the label, which is why I bought it, that the beer is aged for two years in oak casks. And you can taste it. It has a combination taste to me, like brown ale and a fruity lambic. This was actually the second time I bought a bottle of this, and will be buying more in the future.

That’s right. And I am excited about it (disgusting!). Fortunately I live close to work now, and I have only had to pay for gas once since Hurricane Katrina rolled ashore. So today Marcia and I were headed to Costco and we noticed quite a few places selling mid-grade (yes, even at these prices I still buy mid-grade) for $3.08-$3.10 a gallon. I mentioned that I needed to get gas and should take advantage of the “low prices” now that Hurricane Rita is heading for the Gulf. But just before we got to Costco, we got stopped at a light and saw the place across the street selling it for under 3.

Isn’t it ridiculous that we get excited by that price?

I know it has been a rumor for a while, but now it seems to be really happening. According to Michael Rosenberg’s ARTICLE on the Detroit Free Press web site, Pavel Datsyuk is ready to re-sign with the Wings. And if his numbers are to be believed, it’s a two year deal for $7.6 million. Less then what he was asking, but still a hefty raise.

As Rosenberg states, Pavel should be the top offensive threat on the team. And if the crackdown on obstruction penalties truly rids us of the trap, then Datsyuk should flurish. Here’s to hoping that he does,...
