So from time to time with our digital cable we will get a little red light that shows up on the box. This is to tell us that there is a message. The messages are usually some programming issue, and 9 times out of 10 are sports related. Usually “pay per view” reminders for boxing matches or WrestleMania 48, or whatever. Well today there was one that interested me.

The NHL Center Ice Package
I had always balked at getting this, thinking it was too damn expensive. Well it was only $129 for the entire season. And they set up 10 channels for it (meaning a maximum of 10 games a night). We were surprised at the low price, so we decided to get it.
Sure, I am still miffed about the whole season gone missing and the lockout. But this is possibly the only money I will be spending on the NHL this year. No shirts or jerseys. No hats or other collectibles. Not even tickets to a game (since it appears the Flyers didn’t lower ticket prices). So this will allow me to watch the Red Wings, and possible west coast games when I am up feeding the baby at 12:30 at night.

I am thinking we catch a Phantoms game. Home opener – Oct 8th!
