Training camps around the NHL have all officially opened now. Yippee!! It is proof that there will be NHL hockey once again. And though all us die-hard fans will find it hard to deal with watching the NHL on OLN instead of ESPN, and not having NHL2NITE, I think we will manage.
There is some strangeness in the air though with camps opening today. Because of injuries and the salary cap, there are a lot of big name players that are hanging up their skates. Scott Stevens, Vincent Damphousse, James Patrick, Al MacInnis, and Stephane Quintal all have made their announcements in the past two weeks. But the biggest announcement came TODAY. Mark Messier is FINALLY retiring.
