Kim Clijsters has to be the hottest player on the women’s tour this year. After coming off a year’s absence do to a serious wrist injury, she has been brutalizing her opponents. She managed to win the US Open Series, then topped it tonight by winning the US Open itself. This was Kim’s first Grand Slam victory after being denied four times in previous finals (2001 French, 2003 French and Australian, and 2004 Australian). I would not doubt that if she hadn’t have started with such a low ranking, she not Maria Sharapova would be ranked number one in the world. As it is, she is ranked 4th.
Mary Pierce also has been burning up the tour. She finished second in the US Open Series. But tonight she looked bad....

This afternoon we got to celebrate our nephew Ryan’s first birthday. It was a good time, as all kid’s birthday parties can be. He got a lot of loot, but not as much as my nephew Braylen. Hopefully I will get the opportunity to post some pictures tomorrow.
While at the birthday party, we kept an eye on the men’s semifinals of the US Open. Andre Agassi defeat Robbie Ginepri in a good match (from what I saw). Though Ginepri played well, and Agassi struggle against James Blake the round before, Andre was clearly the beter player, though it took 5 sets. In the other semi Roger Federer defeated Lleyton Hewitt. This will be Andre’s 6 trip to the US Open Finals (having won it twice) and Federer’s second...

Last night Marcia and I watched the movie “Closer” starring Jude Law, Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, and Clive Owen. There were virtually no other characters other then the four they played.

The basis is that just how the two couples meet; Dan (Law) and Alice (Portman) on the streets of London, and Anna (Roberts) and Larry (Owen) through a practical joke by Dan. Then what breaks them up, having affairs with each other, coming back to each other, and royally messing up each other’s lives.
It was one of the weirdest movies that I saw that was pretty basic. Meaning there were no fantastical beasts, or fantastical theme, wasn’t...
