The Return of Taco Tuesday!
I may have mentioned before that Marcia and I have had a habit of eating tacos on Tuesday. Much like our Pizza Night’s on Friday, these nights became something to look forward to every week. Sometimes we even invited others over to eat with us.
But lately, with the pregnancy, Marcia had lost her appetite for tacos. Much like the fact that I have been eating eggs lately, Marcia not eating tacos is something that makes one wonder if the end of the world is near. Last night we had them for the first time in weeks.
Ken Jennings’ Greatest Hits
For those of you that don’t know, Ken Jennings is the all-time Jeopardy! champ. He ran off 74 wins after the show dropped it’s limit of 5 wins. Because I like the show, Marcia and I usually watch it when eating dinner. This week, obviously getting ready for the new season, they have been replaying some of his best games during the streak. Monday was the first win, and last night was number 38 when he set the record one-day total of $75,000.
The one thing that struck me about him is that you can see that it is luck sometimes. There are times when he answers and he is not hiding his surprise that he got it correct. Though he is still phenominal, no doubt.
Coldplay Leads to Deep Purple?
OK, so I have come to the conclusion that I have enjoyed listening to Coldplay as of late. All their music is good, with a few songs being very good. I especially like the opener to “X&Y”. I have also been listening to “Parachutes” and “A Rush of Blood to the Head” thanks to my co-worker José. And though I am enjoying their music, it doesn’t really leap out at me. It is some of the best music I have heard of recent trends (other then System of a Down and The Mars Volta). But it still doesn’t have me totally sold.
So how does Deep Purple work into this? I have had a few things to do at work that needed quick attention. Usually the best way to help get those tasks done is listen to something that can really keep me moving. Coldplay hasn’t cut it. But Deep Purple’s “Machine Head” album has. That with some Van Halen (the David Lee Roth years) and some early Aerosmith has helped, too. Usually “Toys in the Attic”. Not my usual listening material, but good stuff nonetheless.
Oh, and every once in a while I crank up “Frankestein” from Edgar Winter. Good thing my office mates like it, too.
