For those Darren McCarty fans out there, here is an ARTICLE from the Detroit Free Press web site. Answers my question from a few posts ago.

As much as I agree it was the right move, still would like to wish Darren good luck on where ever his travels take him, and say thanks for the memories.

I have to say that I am pretty sad to see him go. I know he wasn’t the most talented player but he sure had a big heart. Thats goes on or off the ice. He always had a smile when you would see him off ice. There will never be a “Grind Line” like the one with Mac. I guess this just means that Draper will have to take over some of the things that Mac gave to the fans. I just hope where ever Mac goes they love him as much as Hockeytown did. We’ll miss ya Mac.

Well, I guess I have to retire my McCarty jersey now. I sure will miss Darren. I’ve watched him play for the Red Wings like watching my own kids grow up. We won’t have Mac staying last on the ice after the warm up to toss pucks to the fans. I’m sure going to miss him. I hope Steve and Zac can get Mac to do a signing at DC Sports in the near future. I would like to personally wish him well and have him sign my jersey so I can properly retire it.
