Stayed up last night to watch the Home Run Derby. This is the first time in a while that I have. And I did mostly because the All-Star Game festivities are in Detroit this year. What can I say? I still have a deep connection to the Motor City.
So the final round came down two players representing “my” two teams, which was pretty cool and a surprise. Bobby Abreu of the Phillies, and Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez of the Tigers. Abreu won, in record setting fashion. First he hit the most home runs in a round, knocking out 24 in the first (the record was 15, though David Ortiz of the Red Sox hit 17 later in that round). Then Bobby hit 11 in the final round (a new record). And overall, he hit 41 for the tournament...
