Scooter Chronicles

Had a very good weekend in Detroit. We were there for two reasons. It is probably the last trip we can make to Detroit to see my family before it becomes too uncomfortable for Marcia to travel that far. As it was, she was having a hard time on the trip home. We had to make a few more stops then we usually do, but still made excellent time. But it only proves the point. We still have the trip to Virginia coming up in August, but that is only half as long as Detroit.

The second reason was to be there for my nephew Braylen’s first birthday! The day of the party was beautiful. Most of us sat out on the back patio, or under the tent set up in the backyard. Braylen got a TON of presents. Especially toys. (A reminder to those of you that weren’t at the party and didn’t hear my suggestion …… when buying birthday presents for my child, think stocks, bonds, mutual funds, things that can pay for college funds.)

The highlight present was from my sister-in-law Jodi’s Aunt Mary and Uncle Ray. They bought him a motorized Harley! It is made for kids, and it is still a little big for Braylen. But boy it was cool!

As soon as the new motherboard is installed, I will upload some pictures from the party. We got some good shots of Braylen. He has gotten used to smiling for a camera already and really hammed it up.

As always it was hard to leave. Especially this time since we won’t be able to come back for the holidays. But we hope to return soon after.

One more added note. On Saturday afternoon we went to eat at Famous Dave’s. My Dad suggested this since Marcia was in the mood for ribs, and it was closer and less hassle then going to the Tunnel BBQ in Windsor. The food awesome! The taste of the beef brisket was like having a smoldering log in your mouth (again, I specify TASTE, because it was very tender.) I love smoky BBQ, so everything was quite pleasing. Found out that it is a chain. And as my Dad did, I would suggest it to anyone that is interested in great BBQ without the hassle of making yourself.
