This morning I finished “Angels & Demons” by Dan Brown, better known for his book “The DaVinci Code”.

Again, I cheat, and use Amazom.Com for a plot synopsis.
Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is shocked to find proof that the legendary secret society, the Illuminati - dedicated since the time of Galileo to promoting the interests of science and condemning the blind faith of Catholicism - is alive, well, and murderously active. Brilliant physicist Leonardo Vetra has been murdered, his eyes plucked out, and the society’s ancient symbol branded upon his chest. His final discovery, antimatter, the...

Yesterday morning, Marcia and I headed over the Babies ‘R Us to register for Nigel. Not sure when the shower will be, but we figured we would be prepared. It was a lot of fun, but also daunting. There was a HUGE list of suggestions of things to put down on the list. Some of the things were overlaps, depending on the parent’s preferences. But still it was eye-opening.
For those interested, you can check out the list.
Nigel’s Registry
Quantities are subject to change and things may be added. But that won’t happen until Marcia gets the email to set up the account and allow...

Last night a group of us headed over to the Bethlehem Brew Works for my birthday. Yes, we got a very early start. The thing is that Musikfest invades B’hem for 10 days, and it usually straddles my birthday. And it is nearly impossible to get a table at any restaurant during that time without having to wait a couple of hours.
So the group included Marcia (of course, our designated driver), David, Catherine, Mike, Paula, Shannon, Ed, Chloe, and Uncle Joe. The food, like always, was very good. That is part of the reason...

The “new” NHL has instituted a division/rivalry heavy schedule.
The “home-and-home” series seemed to be a thing of the past. But it has returned to the NHL, and it is wreaking a vengeance on the Wings. They have EIGHT on their schedule. One of those is actually a home-and-home-and-home with the Blackhawks in late October and early November. They even OPEN the season with a home-and-home with St. Louis. To top it off, they have a home-and-home with Nashville in early February, but the game before and the game after is a “pseudo” home-and-home with the Avalanche. Boy, this should be fun.

My Dad actually posted before I did here on my site. You can read the ARTICLE on the Detroit Free Press web site.
I am glad that Shanny is staying. As the article states, I had read on other web sites that speculated that he was going to try and work a deal with Toronto or Boston (his and his wife’s hometowns). Sure his stats have dropped a bit since his trade from Hartford. But then again, other then goalies’ goal against averages, whose stats haven’t dropped? He can still be a physical presence, and he can still put the puck in the net. His one-timer from the left side (he’s one of those opposite handed left wings) is one...

Looky HERE.
And why is it a shame? Because the players didn’t get to fire him!
Good ridance Bob! May you never be associated with the game of hockey again.

I went along with Marcia for her ultra-sound this morning. This was a follow up to some tests that were done a few weeks back. These tests came back showing that levels were off. Sometimes that means that the baby could be born with genetic defects, most common being Downs syndrome. We were told that the chances were slim, but they present all the information to the parents. Also offered is an amniocentesis. This would give us a definite answer.
We decided against the amnio since it includes a risk of miscarriage and our odds were low. And we figured it didn’t matter whether we knew now or not. There was nothing we could do now to change it. But still we wondered what the ultra-sound would show.
The ultra-sound...

According to this ARTICLE the Flyers have signed Jeff Carter and Mike Richards. These two are the reason they bought out LeClair and Amonte. On a team that still had a lot of talent after the buyouts, these two guys will help the future. And that future is looking pretty bright in the City of Brotherly Love.
(Now I hope the Wings can lock up Datsyuk and Zetterberg!)

Keeping my record close to .500 after losing 8 straight, my team won again this week in very impressive fashion. I was matched up against the Casey Power. Along with getting very big games from five of my players, the Power got poor games from most of their players. The final score was 751-448. Not that I would really want to win by such large margins, but I wish I had more of these; getting a strong team on a bad week.
My team has officially been eliminated from the playoffs. Not a surprise. But like this week and week 14 of the season, I hope to mess up teams making runs at the playoffs. : )

Thanks again to Quad (for the ladder image)...

For those Darren McCarty fans out there, here is an ARTICLE from the Detroit Free Press web site. Answers my question from a few posts ago.

As much as I agree it was the right move, still would like to wish Darren good luck on where ever his travels take him, and say thanks for the memories.
