Last night Marcia and I watched “Zoolander”, thanks to Netflix. This stars a group of actors that keep appearing in the same movies together, and have come to be known as the “frat pack.” It started with Ben Stiller, Luke and Owen Wilson, and Vince Vaughn. Though the group has grown to include Will Ferrell, and lately Christine Taylor.

The story centers around Derek Zoolander (Stiller), an airheaded, male supermodel. He has won three “Male Model of the Year” awards, and loses his bid for four in a row to the newest and hottest model on the scene, Hansel (Owen Wilson). Then the following day, his three roommates (also male supermodels) die in a freak accident leading Derek to retire.
Will Ferrell plays famous fashion designer Mugatu, and using a secret plot with Derek’s agent Maury Ballstein (played by Stiller’s father Jerry), they plan on using Derek to assissinate the prime minister of Malaysia, who has just passed laws against child labor.
This is not the best movie these guys have put together. But it is still worth watching. If one thing Stiller, the Wilson brothers, and Vaughn do is consistantly come up with entertaining movies. Even if not blockbusters.

I have to say that this is one of my more favorite movies of theirs. I watch it everytime it is on TV… I think I need to go buy it.

“The Royal Tenenbaums” and “Dodgeball” are my favorites. Of course tRT’s got help from Wes Anderson’s help with directing.
