The seeded players continue to roll at the All-England Club. The only men’s seed to lose was Marat Safin a couple of days ago. Safin is the reigning Australian Open champ. As for the women, the only seeded players to get knocked out have been by higher seeded players. Some interesting matches though are coming. Kim Clijsters who is playing very well since coming back from an extended injury will be setting up against number one seeded and ranked LindsayDavenport in the next round. We also could see the Williams sisters squaring off against each other in the 4th round.
I watched a bit of Andy Roddick’s 3rd round match, and he looked pretty good. Won the first two sets 6-2. But then he got a little sloppy and almost lost the third set in a tie-breaker. Fortunately for him he made a couple of nice shots and his opponent Igor Andreev made a couple of mistakes, giving Roddick the final set. Federer had some problems in his 3rd round match as well. This might be good for both of them (the top two seeds in the men’s draw). Better to struggle early and get your game back for the later, tougher matches.
[ UPDATED ]
Serena Williams, the 4th seed of the tourney, lost her 3rd round match to fellow American Jill Craybas 6-3, 7-6 (4). Craybas will now go on to face Venus Williams. Serena has been nursing a very sore ankle, along with a few other problems. When I watching the coverage today on ESPN, they showed a snippet of an interview with her father. Mr. Williams said that Serena should not have even played Wimbledon this year, worried that she could do some permanent damage.

I was disappointed to see Serena go out, shame about the injury.
