My two baseball teams made a trade yesterday. The Tigers sent closer Ugueth Urbina to the Phillies for Placido Polanco. I have not been able to follow the Tigers closely this year, but I sure hope Percival is doing his job to make trading Urbina a good move, and that they needed a guy like Polanco. As for the Philllies side, this is a good trade. Chase Utley was being wasted on the bench when Polanco played, and their bullpen needs the help.

According to this ARTICLE from ESPN’s web site, the players’ union and the owners have agreed to a salary cap structure. Of course this does not mean that a new collective bargaining agreement had been agreed upon. They still need to negotiate free agency and other things. But if this is true, I can see the season starting on time.

I think this might become known as “The Other Miracle on Ice.”

Added to this, from this ARTICLE at NHL.Com, they are talking seriously about using shoot-outs instead of having regular season games end in tied.
