The “old man” of tennis, Andre Agassi became another high seeded first round victim. He lost to Finnish qualifier Jarkko Nieminen 7-5, 4-6, 6-7 (6), 6-1, 6-0. Though he has gotten better with age, and become one of mine and other fans’ favorites, this is the 9th time he has lost in the first round. OUCH!! And that might be the key word. Reports on the internet say that it appeared he was hurting during the last two sets. Agassi was the 6th seed on the men’s side, and won it all at Roland Garros back in 1999.
I hate seeing him go down like that, but such is life on the tour. He really turned his career around after all his “rebel” days and lasted a lot longer, and playing stronger then most...
