NHL Update
The owners and the players’ union continue to talk. And they continue to get nowhere. Is it just me, or are there other so-called “die hards” out there like myself that don’t really caring anymore?

I read an article in the papers this weekend (the Detroit News - Detroit Free Press combined Saturday edition) that said ESPN keeps lowering the price they are willing to pay to broadcast their games. Considering that they are really the only national US coverage the league has, the league is in serious trouble here. It is bad enough they are losing fans, but if those that are left can’t watch the sport, interest will wane more.

As much as I was siding more with the players from within this lock-out, yet not really backing either side of millionaire crybabies, I really think they just need to accept what the league has to offer and get back on the ice. I can see the viewpoint that it’s the owner’s league, and if they want to ruin it, it’s their right. After all, the players can go play elsewhere. But if the NHL goes away, it’s not like hockey fans in the US are going to flock to another league, and the players sure aren’t going to make as much money as the owners are offering now in a different league.

Chelsea Wins the English Premiership
I am behind here, but the one team that I kind of latched onto in England’s top soccer league won the championship two weeks ago. Unlike the pro sports leagues here in North America, the league champ is REALLY the league champ. The team that finishes with the best record. Though the season is not officially over, no one can catch Chelsea.

Chelsea is one of the many London based teams in English football, and will be celebrating their 100th season next year. Though being around that long, this was only their second Premiership Championship, the first coming 50 years ago in 1955. As for the league itself, this is the first time in 10 years that a team other than Manchester United or Arsenal won the championship, and only the second time in the last 13 years (the Blackburn Rovers won in 1995).

Complain Complain
I don’t understand this. With today’s technology, why can’t I see Australian Rules Football games on TV? ESPN used to broadcast one game a week YEARS AGO! This was before satellite TV or even before ESPN2

I guess I just want to watch something exciting. The NHL playoffs would be nearing the conference finals about now. And as much as I like baseball, sometimes it can be boring after the first month for a bit.

Oh, and before any of you leave comments, I want a way to watch these games from my couch and without the aid of a computer. (Smartasses.)

!!!!! UPDATE !!!!!
Comcast in our area carries FOX Sports Soccer, and from what I have found (after doing some more investigation) they broadcast Aussie Rules games! WOO HOO!!
