I used to work for a company in the Detroit area called Forward Planning Corp. After almost 10 years, I had left for a more stable company. FPC (as it was known) had been going through hard times and was losing employees. Eventually they were sold to a competitor, something that they used to try and get me to stay. Of course it didn’t matter either way, since later I moved to Pennsylvania.
About two years ago, on one of my trips back to Detroit to see my family, we planned to get some of us together and have dinner at East Side Mario’s, an Italian place down the street from the office that we used to go after work. So we planned another one tonight. It took us a while to get a table (there was 10 of us with no reservations), but boy did we have a good time. It was great to catch up with these folks that I spent so much time with. Unfortunately two guys that had said they would be there didn’t make it, but then one that we didn’t know was coming did show.
