This morning in the hotel I got to finished “The Circus of Dr. Lao” by Charles G. Finney. Though classified as a novel, it is really a novella, clocking in at 134 pages of big typeface. It was originally published in 1935.

For the record, Dr. Lao rhymes with show and go, not now and cow as I originally thought. The plot is simple. Dr. Lao brings his not normal circus to Abalone, Arizona. Some of the stuff in the circus is either just crazy, or very fantastical. They have a sphinx, a unicorn, a mermaid, a medusa, and a sea serpent to name a few. Dr. Lao’s partner in crime is Apollonius of Tyana.

Catching up ……….
Marcia was losing symptoms that she was pregnant yesterday, so she called her doctor. They suggested that she come in so they could make sure things were alright. They did a quick ultra-sound, and everything is fine. We got a picture, and once I can scan it I will post it. It was really cool because you could see the heart beating. We have to wait until next week for the real ultra-sound to get a due date.
So since her appointment yesterday was in the early afternoon, and I went with her, we left for Detroit earlier then expected. We spent the night at a hotel in Washington, PA, a town about a half hour south of Pittsuburgh. The hotel is pet friendly, that was the reason we did it. ...
