Off to Atlantic City Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!
May 01

Had a good time. And we did pretty good. We gave ourselves $200 to gamble with, and brought home $260. We had a few instances that gave us that money. It wasn’t like we just gambled a little and was happy with getting $60. Marcia put $20 into a “Wheel of Fortune” slot machine and walked away with $101 on Saturday night. Then on Sunday we started doing even better.

We sat down at the roulette table with $80 and walked away with $112. At one point we were down to $20 there. Then Marcia sat down at a blackjack table with a $25 minimum (there are no lower BJ tables at the Borgata). She started with $100, and after a couple bad hands started drawing some good cards. Then with a timely double down, and soon she had $200. Then I added a bit more to the total when I hit a nickel slot machine, starting with $20 and ending with $60. So it was fun, and we got “paid” to entertain ourselves.

We had dinner last night at the Tun Tavern which is within the Sheraton Hotel. Supposedly this place was originally in Philadelphia during the years of the Revolution. It is even said in their menu that it was the place that Ben Franklin uttered his famous quote …..

Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

Not sure if that is true. Either way it appears the place closed, but family members open the Atlantic City establishment in 1998. The food was good and bad. I had a burger that wasn’t even close to being the best I have had. It was disappointing. But we had their jumbo onion rings before hand with some honey mustard dipping sauce. Both the rings and the mustard were awesome! Marcia had a chicken salad with fruit. The chicken salad was rather tasty. They also gave her a piece of banana bread that was excellent. I had their Irish Red which was good. I like them, and this was better then anything mass produced that I have had (like Killian’s, though good too). And funny thing, the beer went really well with the banana bread.
