There is a great show on ESPN at 5:30 weekdays called “Pardon the Interruption”, aka PTI. It is hosted by Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon. Both work for the sports media in Washington, though Wilbon is originally from Chicago and still has his heart there.

The Roman Catholic Church has a new leader. German Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger was named Pope this afternoon. He has choosen Benedict XVI as his papal name.

He is already coming under fire for his past and his stance on issues. My honest opinion is that the Catholic church needs to change and move forward. Pope Benedict XVI is a move in the opposite direction, being even more “old school” then Pope John Paul II. But there is one issue he is very big on and I do hope he can do something about it, and that is the problems with sexual abuse from priests and cardinals (yes, one of the cardinals that voted today has had charges brought against...

The State of Pro Hockey
It seems that things keep getting worse. Or at least not better. It has been reported that the owners and the players’ union are getting together today to go over a couple of “hybrid” plans that will supposedly serve both sides well. This is in regards to the linkage between team revenues and player salaries.
Given the fact that sponsors are walking away, and ESPN is telling the NHL to take a hike, I think the NHL’s days are numbered. Especially if they don’t start the next season on time. Even if they do salvage some kind of season, I am sure many teams will not survive. Who is going to want to go watch these guys? I am a very big fan of hockey, and...
