Marcia and I are going to spend the weekend in Atlantic City. Maybe we will win something to start a college fund. ; )

We will be staying at the Sheraton by the convention center. As far as nice hotels go in A. C. it is very cheap. Less then half the price a night as the resorts/casinos. As far as hotels go through out the world, well it’s a bit pricey.

Most of our time is going to be spent at the Borgata. Marcia signed up for a card there, and it is a really nice place. The only disadvantage to it is that it’s not on the boardwalk.

I honestly don’t...

This afternoon I finished “The Etched City”, the debut novel of Australian author K. J. Bishop. It is categorized as fantasy, which is a good choice for it. The reason it was brought to my attention was a post at Science Fiction - Fantasy World that was asking members for their favorite “stand alone” fantasy novels. This one showed up quite a bit.

I have been wanting to read more fantastical novels. And I am not referring to the classic definition meaning swords and/or sorcery. Good examples of what I had in mind are “Perdido...

Another week, another loss. It is getting rough. Especially since the top 3 goal scorers in the AFL are on my team! Of course we get points for more then just goals, and that’s what’s killing me. Oh well, it’s still fun. Here is the current standings:

Yep, you read that correctly!! Around 2:00 or so yesterday afternoon, Marcia called me at work, not being able to wait until I got home to give me the good news.

Now we weren’t really trying. We expected to in a couple of months or so. I didn’t want to wait too much longer, though I was the one holding up the show. I wanted to get more distance between Marcia’s turn around and us having children. So this comes a couple of months early, but it is also a great blessing! See, it wasn’t going to be easy for us to conceive. Both Marcia and I have the odds stacked against us. Her problems are more easily overcome with help of a specialized doctor. But my problems could REALLY cause expensive procedures to...

Stupid Pistons’ Fans!
The city of Detroit (my hometown) continues to get more black eyes from fans at Pistons’ games. And this is filled with so much irony. The sports fans in Philadelphia (my new hometown) have always been considered some of the worst. Yet here it is, the “City of Brotherly Love’s” basketball team playing in Detroit, and some idiot throws a quarter at Allen Iverson of the Sixers. WHAT?! This just months after the incident with the Indiana Pacers.

Why do people think they have the right to do those kind of things. When you buy a ticket, you are not buying the “right” to be disruptive. You are not a part of the the game. You are just there to see...

New Computer
David is in the process of putting together our new computer. He started yesterday afternoon. Marcia and I were in need of a new video card, and given the state of our mother board, it was smart to update that as well. So David hunted around and found a computer bundle that included both, and for an extra $80 got us updated on all our other equipment. And since we have been having problems with our current one, it was a no-brainer.

It did not come assembled, but we also had to transfer our CD burner and zip driver over. The new computer also came with a 60 gig hard drive. We just recently replace ours with an 80 gig drive. So that too needs to be put into the new system, giving us more storage...

Last night Marcia and I watched “Girl With a Pearl Earring”, which we rented for the local library.

Neither of us had any idea what the movie was about, or the fact that it was inspired by a real painting. We found this out after the movie was over and they showed the real artwork. The painting title is the same as the movie, and was painted by Johannes Vermeer. It is supposedly his most famous and was painted sometime between 1665 to 1667.

[UPDATED: Fixed the way it read]

This afternoon I attended Country Day School of the Sacred Heart’s theatrical production of “Once Upon a Mattress”. I am sure many of you are mystified like I was at the name. But it is a musical comedy based on the story of the princess and the pea. (You know …….. it was on Sesame Street ……….. the princess has to prove herself a true princess by sleeping on 20 mattresses with a pea under the last one.) This hit broadway back in 1959, and was Carol Burnett’s big break. There was also a revival back in 1997...

Last night I finished watching the first season of “Red Dwarf”. Never heard of it, eh? Well, it’s a BBC TV comedy. And science fiction to boot. The first season premiered in 1988. I was really interested in seeing this because they kept showing up on my recommendations list at Amazon. Thankfully NetFlix had it.

The basis of the story surrounds Dave. He is maintenance guy on a space ship called Red Dwarf. His roommate is Arnold Rimmer, a wannabee officer who is continually writing Dave up for infractions. Dave smuggles...

“Let me get this straight. He offered you a million dollars for a night with your wife? As in your wife Diana? And you agreed to it? I don’t know what to say. How could you do something like that? HOW COULD YOU NEGOTIATE WITHOUT ME? Never negotiate without your lawyer. Never. For a woman like Diana I could have gotten you at least two million.”
