As may be known already, the NHL Players’ Union took a HUGE step in helping get the sides closer to agreeing to a deal. Yesterday during negotiations, the players agreed to a salary cap. Their number was $52 million. That is $12 million more then the owners want. But given the added 24% rollback in salary that players have agreed to, that would only put 8 teams over the $40 million mark.

My thinking is, that if the players are willing to a cap, AND a rollback, the owners need to budge on the ceiling. If they don’t, then they truly have no one to blame but themselves for a continued stalemate.

By the way, no matter if a deal was struck or not, it appears that the league would still cancel the season.

Last night after having a quick bite to eat at Crossroads in Hellertown, Marcia and I rented M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Village”.

WOW!! That’s about all I can really say about the plot. If I said more, I think I would be giving things away. Part of what makes the movie great is trying to figure out what is happening. Is it supernatural? Is it mythical? Is it someone outside controlling things? There is a lot to absorb too with the characters and their relationships with one another.
