Marcia and I rented “Shrek 2″ and watched it last night. Very funny. Very good. Just as good, or maybe even better then the first movie.

The three main original characters that enthralled us all the first time around where back. Mike Myers as the voice of Shrek, Cameron Diaz as the voice of Princess Fiona, and Eddie Murphy as the voice of Duncan the Donkey. The additions to the cast is what helped add to the already good humor. Julie Andrews and John Cleese provided the voices of the King and Queen, Fiona’s parents. Rupert Everett was the voice of Prince Charming. Jennifer Saunders (of Absolutely Fabulous …. famous BBC TV show) provided the voice of the Fairy Godmother who also happens to be Prince Charming’s mother, and Antonio Banderas was the voice of Puss in Boots, the cute and cuddly cut, yet a vicious swashbuckler ala Zorro, and a ladies man.

The basis of the story is that after their honeymoon, Shrek and Fiona are invited to come to the palace to see her parents (which she has not seen in quite sometime). Of course her parents are surprised by her looks and especially Shrek. The hilarity ensues from there. The humorous lines are fast and furious, and there are many quick scenes (mostly at the start of the movie) which are copied from other famous movies.

Like most animated movies these days, it is not just for kids. It is a very worthwhile rental.

Loved Shjrek2. I tend to love most animated movies, especially if they have Eddie Murphy starring as a smart-mouthed animal, LOL!!
