“Let me tell you one thing son. Nobody ever lends money to a man with a sense of humor.”

— Peter Tork of the Monkees in the movie “Head”

Finished this last night. Again, as I have said a few times on this site, the man is an incredible writer! This was the third book of Kay’s that I have read. I read “Tigana” last summer. And I read “The Lions of Al-Rassan” earlier this summer. “A Song for Arbonne” was written in between those two.

The...

Didn’t post these before …….. gonna wrap up in one.

Day Three
Got to spend a couple of hours with my Uncle Len (my Dad’s brother) and Aunt Mary. Their daughter, my cousin, Lisa was there. It was nice to see her especially since we couldn’t go to her wedding this summer, with me in a cast. Later on in the evening we went to a nice pool hall with my sister Jenn, her roomie Cris, and my sister-in-law Angie (her and Todd got married via the Justice of the Peace earlier this month).

Day Four
A lazy day. Sat around reading during the morning, and a bit in the afternoon. Then Marcia and I watched “House, MD”, which my Mom was nice enought to...

We relaxed a bit yesterday. Got to read some of my book in the morning. Then after lunch, we headed over to my Grandparents’ place. My Uncle Steve (Dad’s brother) was there along with his wife Ann and son Adam. After we got there, my Dad and Uncle Steve went out to buy my grandparents a new TV. I ended up helping them put together the TV stand that they bought with it.

Before getting to my Grandparents’, we stopped at a Polish food market to get them some stuff. Talk about a great store! Wish we had one of those close by where I live.

After getting some more time to read, we had dinner with my parents, then went out and did some shopping. It was a nice laid back day.

By the way, I am getting REALLY annoyed by blogger.com

I tried to post before we left on our trip to Detroit yesterday morning. It refused to go through. Changes are going to be happening. I am sick and tired of having those kind of problems.

Anyway ….. we left an hour later then normal, which is actually two hours later then Marcia says she would like to leave. But we still made great time. Roads were clear, except for a brief snow storm south of Cleveland for about 15 miles. And even so, it really wasn’t sticking too much.

Yesterday was my sister Jenn’s birthday.

HAPPY belated-BIRTHDAY JENN!!

We will more then likely be going out tonight or tomorrow...

Marcia and I sat down and watched the movie “King Arthur” starring Clive Owen as Arthur, Keira Knightley as Guinevere, and Ioan Gruffudd as Lancelot.

Now the first thing one should know about this movie is the basis of it. Those of you that love and adore the legend of King Arthur (as most know it as), with Merlin the wizard and all that, be fore warned. You probably should NOT watch this movie. There is no magic (though Merlin is still in the movie). There is no Morgan Le Faye and no Mordred. There is no betrayal of Arthur’s love for Guinevere by her and Lancelot. There is no Camelot. This movie tries to stay closer...

I now only have one gift left to get. PHEW!! Still have no clue as to what it should be.

NHL Season Ends Jan. 14th?
A report in the Philadelphia Inquirer this morning says that the owners are planning on getting together for a meeting on January 14. The specifics of the meeting were not announced, but it is being believed that if no new CBA is in place at this time, the season will be canceled.

Why then? This is a farce. There is no way the two sides are going to agree on anything before then. First off, they aren’t talking. Second of all, they seem worlds apart with the salary cap / no salary cap issue. Why not just cancel it now, but get back to talking?...

And I don’t have all my shopping done yet. Though there are only two more gifts to get.

Car Problems
I have gotten too spoiled from leasing new vehicles with good warranties. It’s been about 12 years since I have had to deal with car repairs and the financial problems that are encountered by them. It hasn’t been a pleasant experience the last three months.

My Jeep Cherokee’s air conditioning system now has been totally replaced. It has happened over the last three months. The last part of it happened yesterday. It was the compressor/pump. A very easy part to replace. It is right on top of the layout with nothing in the way. So what happened? The bearing inside failed. ...

First Snow of the Season
It turned out to not be much at all. And a good portion of the roads were dry. But there is still quite a bit of ice out there. And being in the single digits makes the road salt useless. But despite that, it still only took me an extra 5 minutes or so to get to work. Not bad. (It helped that I left rather early.)

Author Guy Gavriel Kay
I started reading “A Song for Arbonne” this weekend. This is the third book by Guy Gavriel Kay that I have read. The other...
