I had the pleasure of attending the Lehigh Choral Group’s Fall Concert tonight at the Zoellner Center on the campus of Lehigh University. The interesting thing though is that there are two different groups. One that is made up of only choral students from LU. The other is the Choral Union, which is made up of anyone that wants to join. My mother-in-law’s brother (aka Uncle Joe) is in the Union group, as well as Joanna de Jesus-Fenicle, who is a sister of a fellow co-worker of mine, José de Jesus, Jr. Both groups are conducted and directed by Steven Sametz, who in the 130 year history of Lehigh Choral Arts, is only the...

My friend (and soon to be brother-in-law) David’s birthday is today. He turns 30.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID

But last night, a bunch of us headed over to the Victory Brew Pub in Downingtown, Pennsylvania to celebrate.

The get together was well attended. David’s siblings and some friends came up from Delaware. Other more locally. And it appeared that a good time was had by all. Like usual, the food was pretty good. Though the service seemed a bit slow. Andy and I got our meals first before the appetizers we ordered. But the yumminess made up for it. Oh ……. and then there is the beer. As always, the beer was excellent....

The NHL lockout is not only effecting people here in North America, but it is putting players in Europe out of a job. I never thought of this when I would hear players signing with a European team to “stay in shape.” But an article written by Corey Hirsch, a former goalie for the Langnau Tigers of the Swiss ‘A’ League, shows that when these NHL players are coming over and signing, the team has to cut another player. One that makes much less money than the NHL player, and one that REALLY needs the money (unlike the NHL couterpart).

Mind you, some NHL players might not have bags of cash laying around. Especially players that might be married with a few children. But they are much better off financially then...

Here is a funny link. It’s for the The Most Cursed Franchises in Sports History. Some of them are hilarious (my opinion). The first one also shows that I am not the only one that thinks Cubs fans were taking their World Series Pennant drought better than Red Sox fans. ; ) There was a criteria to it. You have to read the introduction before looking at the list to understand. The basic qualification is a team not winning a championship in the last 25 years.

Side note: Only one of my hometown teams made the list. The Detroit Lions. The Pistons are reigning NBA Champs. The Red Wings have won 3 of the last 8 Stanley Cups. And the Detroit Tigers,...

I had an evaluation at the end of my physical therapy session yesterday. This is always done near or at the end of a doctor’s script. I have one more session before I see the doctor, which is next Tuesday.

The improvement is very noticeable. A lot of my range of motion has come back. Though I still have more to go. Plus the strengthening of the muscles, though we have started on that this past week. The biggest improvement is when pulling my foot upward. (I think it’s called the dorsal movement ……. but I am probably wrong. I can never remember it.)

When I first went into physical therapy, I could only rotate my foot in that direction 1 degree. My other foot could obtain 15 degrees of rotation....

Bambino who?

If it was a curse, then the 2004 version of the Boston Red Sox are some of the best exorsists in the business. Last night, under a full moon, that was also a full lunar eclipse, the Boston Red Sox finished off the St. Louis Cardinals in 4 games to win the World Series. Their first in 86 years.

As incredible as the Cardinals were during the season, the Red Sox were just too much team for them to handle. Everyone was playing solid. Their starting pitchers didn’t give up a run! They got out to early leads, sometimes extending those leads, and played well enough to hold the Cards off. This is an accomplishment,...

Goodbye to the Curse?
It appears that it might finally happen. One year after the famed curse reared it’s ugly head again, the Boston Red Sox are one win away from winning their first World Series since 1918. And unlike 1986 (where they were one out away in Game 6), if there are any hiccups, they have a few more games to get it done.

Unless, of course, the St. Louis Cardinals turn the down 3-0 trick on them. ; )

The first one is “Trouble at the Henhouse” by the Tragically Hip. I am not even sure...

A tribute (in title only) to the late, great Bob Talbert
He was a columnist for the Detroit Free Press. Originally from the south (he referred to himself as “Bubba”), he took the Detroit area by storm with his witty articles. Every Monday morning, his column was titled like my post. It was just a bunch of random thoughts, much like I have been doing with posts. And it was geared to moaning about it being Monday again. Just about every other Monday, I think about that title. Talbert died in 1999, and I know a lot of people in Detroit that still miss him.

I really don’t...

Catherine and David are getting married!

Now that David has posted it on his blog page, I can post about it. ; ) He proposed to my sister-in-law Catherine on Saturday. All the info can be found in the blog (click on the link of the sub-title). It is strange how all of us came together (Marcia and I, and Catherine and David). And now David and I will be brothers-in-law. Things happen for a reason. (Though we can still blame David for starting the web site.)

Congratulations Catherine and David!!

I found a font I liked and quickly came up with a new wordmark for the header. Nothing special, but considering the first one looked rough, it was worth a shot doing something different.
