In what turned out to look like three different games, team USA lost it’s opener of the World Cup of Hockey this evening to Canada in Montreal. The final score was 2-1. The first period and the beginning of the second looked to be “a game between an NHL team and a college team” as ESPN analyst Jeremy Roenick pointed out. Canada led the charge while out shooting the US 22 to 6 in the first half of the game. They also created 18 scoring chances, while the US had NONE! But with the play of Robert Esche in goal for the US, Canada could only garner a 1-0 lead after the first period.
No new cast : (
But I have only three more weeks in a cast!! : ) The doctor liked hearing that I have not been feeling any pain from the tendon when putting weight on it the last few weeks. So he feels that just another three weeks will do. That will put me on the better side of the typical cast duration for a ruptured achilles (usually 12 to 15 weeks). After this cast I will be wearing a brace for 6 to 12 weeks that will allow my foot movement. But it will limited to keep the angle between the top of my foot and my shin at 90 degrees or greater. Meaning, if I get a cramp in my right calf, I won’t be able to move my foot to that “maximum” position to stretch it out.
