Been a long time since I have gotten out and did anything, other than a couple of Pizza Nights. Marcia and I, along with her sister Paula, her sister Catherine, and our friend (and Catherine’s boyfriend) David headed over to the Bethlehem Brew Works for dinner last night. It is in downtown Bethlehem (as you probably already figured out) and usually does a booming business. The food there is always good to great, as well as the beer. Last night I stuck with their Zomerbier, which is one of their summer seasonal brews. The discription is as follows:
Zomerbier—Our Belgian style summer brew made with dark Belgian candi sugars, bitter orange peel, Hallertau hops, Czech Saaz hops, and coriander seed.
It is a very complicated beer, not for the faint of heart. As for dinner, I was pretty well dead set on getting a burger, though two of the specials for the night had me tempted. But given the fact that my appetite has been rather slow to catch up since my surgery, and I haven’t gotten out much, I decided to do the decadent thing and get the burger with Cheddar and mushrooms. Then I finished it with their Apple Crisp for dessert.
It was a good time. Though it always is dining with Paula, Catherine, and David. And for a while their I almost forgot that I had a cast and had to hobble around on crutches. And that was the best thing of the night. I felt like a “normal” person again. ; )
