The latest book I knocked out is “Dreamer” by Steven Harper, subtitled, “A Novel of the Silent Empire”. This was his debut novel, and a bit of a hometown guy to me, living in Ypsilanti, Michigan, which is between Detroit and Ann Arbor. He has written two other novels so far, both based in the “Silent Empire”.
The idea behind the “Silent Empire” is, when humans come across a planet that they would like to colonize, they find it is already inhabitated by another race. This race eventually shows them “The Dream”, a place that is kind of like “cyberspace” in cyber-punk novels. But it is rather...
