Another short, classic fantasy novel.

As with “Elric”, I got a hold of this one to get a feel of what the series is like, being the first of the “Earthsea” cycle. I had read one other book by LeGuin, “The Left Hand of Darkness”, about a year ago, and though I enjoyed it, there was something about her writing style that wasn’t all that endearing. As a sci-fi book though, the enjoyment came with the world building. But given it’s nature of the race that ruled the planet it took place on, there was so much to explore with relationships and politics, making it a very good book.

My surgery was considered a success. The doctor told my wife Marcia that there was some torn muscles along with the torn achilles. But all was repaired. It took some time for the nausea to pass, but I am feeling better. The pain has been subsiding, and if I stay still with my foot elevated it is pretty painless. Getting up and moving around is a different story though.
I am supposed to be in this cast for two weeks. From there I believe it will be a series of splints and still some kind of apparatus (like crutches) to help me walk and keep weight off of it. I will know more when I see the doctor in two weeks.
